Your controller, cameras, and a reef expert you can talk to

I’m Brett Miller. I built ReefMind after losing corals and wishing I had understood the warning signs sooner.

Know what your reef is telling you.

ReefMind puts your controller, dosers, water tests, and cameras in one place, then tells you what changed and why it might matter. Ask Captain Chris out loud while your hands are wet, and he answers with your tank’s real numbers. Your camera learns your fish and corals and speaks up when something looks different.

No credit card. Works with Neptune Apex/Fusion, CoralVue Hydros, Aquarino, and GHL ProfiLux, plus read-only AquaWiz, Trident, and Focustronic results. Available data depends on the integration.

New: talk to Captain Chris

Just ask your reef. Out loud.

Captain Chris is ReefMind’s reef expert. Before he answers, he reads your readings, dosing, tests, photos, and equipment, so the answer is about your tank, not a forum average.

  • Talk in real time. Tap the mic and talk the way you would to a reef friend at the sump. Interrupt him mid-sentence; captions stay on screen.
  • Log a test by saying it. “Alk 8.2, calcium 440.” He reads the numbers back, and nothing saves until you tap Confirm.
  • He already knows your setup. Equipment, tank profile, livestock, ICP results, and coral growth, so you never start from zero.
  • He reads; he never touches. Captain Chris can’t change your tank, equipment, or settings, and safety questions get a careful answer.

Typed chat is in every plan. Talking to Captain Chris is included in Plus and Pro.

Camera AI

A camera that knows your fish, and notices when one goes missing.

Point a camera you already own at the display or the sump. ReefMind learns the fish and corals on your Livestock list, watches between your visits, and ties each change back to your own tank data.

  • “Powder Blue Tang not seen in 47 hours.” A nudge to go look before a small problem becomes an expensive one.
  • Notes that explain the change. What changed since the last photo, the likely reason from your readings, doses, or water changes, and one next step.
  • The sump, watched for you. Water level, whether the skimmer is running, and how full the cup is getting.
  • Use the cameras you have. Reolink, Wyze, Tapo, Kasa, and other RTSP cameras through a Collector, or Ring with no Collector at all.

Camera AI is part of Pro, which includes the Collector. Camera notes are context, not a diagnosis.

Tested on the tank that started it

Built at home, on a real reef.

I started ReefMind on my own 250-gallon mixed reef. That tank is still where I test the product and check whether the explanations are actually useful.

“Dude. This will definitely be a winner. The people I service with Apex controllers have no idea what the numbers mean. This changes that.”

Community coral research

The Paletta Coral Growth & Color Research Project

Powered by ReefMind.ai

Mike Paletta and ReefMind.ai are comparing coral photos, ICP chemistry, PAR, coral identity, and tank context across successful home reefs to find repeatable patterns associated with exceptional coral color and health. Participants help build better evidence and can see project findings as they become available; the project does not promise individual analysis.

Important: Early findings are correlations—not automatic dosing instructions. Submissions stay private unless you separately give permission to share photos publicly.

Upload without logging in

Use the dedicated form for up to five original coral photos, tank context, and one or more matching ICP reports.

Email photos; photo dates; coral names or descriptions; PAR if known; tank/system details; and matching ICP reports with sample dates and providers when known. Unknown details do not block participation.
