Log a test in 5 seconds: just tell Captain Chris
Most reef questions come up with wet hands: at the sump, holding a test kit, looking at a coral that doesn’t look quite right. So this update is about talking to Captain Chris the way you’d talk to a reef friend standing next to the tank, and about him knowing more of your tank when you do.
Talk to Captain Chris in real time
Tap the microphone and just talk. Captain Chris answers in well under a second, and you can interrupt him mid-sentence the same way you would a person. Captions stay on screen, so you can read back anything you missed.
He also has a new voice, and his picture pulses on the voice screen while he’s talking.
Log a test by saying it
Say something like “alk 8.2, calcium 440”. Captain Chris reads the numbers back to you and shows a confirm card. Nothing saves until you tap confirm. If a unit looks wrong or a value is out of range, you fix it on the card first.
Ask about all of your tank’s data
Captain Chris can now answer questions about your coral growth, using the same numbers as your coral summary. Growth needs at least two dated photos of the coral.
He can also walk through your ICP results and what changed since your last one, and he knows your livestock list.
He knows your setup
Captain Chris knows your equipment and your Captain Chris Tank Profile, in chat and in voice, so you don’t have to explain your system every time you ask something.
Fish check-ins
Now and then, Captain Chris may ask about a fish that hasn’t been spotted on camera lately. He asks at most one of these per conversation, and only once your cameras have a few days of history. It’s a friendly nudge to go take a look, not a verdict: a camera photo can’t tell him how a fish is doing.
Ask how to do anything
Ask how something works or what ReefMind.ai supports, like “what cameras does ReefMind support?” or “how do I upload an ICP test?”, in chat or by voice. If he isn’t sure, he says so and points you to help and support instead of guessing.
Better conversations in chat
Captain Chris remembers what you said earlier in the conversation, asks a short clarifying question when your question could go two ways, and keeps his answers shorter. Replies also start streaming in faster.
What hasn’t changed
Captain Chris can only read your data. He never changes your tank, your equipment or your settings. Dosing and other safety questions still get the same careful answer, with the same “change one thing, then test again” advice.
