89 merges, 70 releases, and one huge ReefMind week
ReefMind is moving fast — not for the sake of shipping noise, but because every improvement can help a reefer understand a tank sooner, connect one more piece of hardware, or catch something that deserves a closer look.
In the seven days ending August 15, 89 updates reached main and ReefMind recorded 70 Production releases. The active product now spans more than 915,000 nonblank lines of code, markup, configuration, tests, and automation when versioned Collector release snapshots are excluded. When those tracked snapshots and JSON are included, the repository is over two million nonblank lines.
Those numbers are not the product. They are evidence of the pace behind the product — and of how much this community is helping us learn.
Photo intelligence gets stronger
When you ask ReefMind to identify a fish or coral from a photo, that request now uses Gemini 3.1 Pro. That is a deliberate distinction: user-triggered marine photo identification gets our strongest visual reasoning, while routine CameraAI monitoring stays on the fast path built for regular snapshots.
CameraAI remains one of the most exciting parts of ReefMind. A Collector can build a visual history alongside controller readings, dosing, testing, livestock, and maintenance. A probe can tell you a number; a camera can show you the part of the story a probe cannot see.
Open your latest CameraAI footage and summaries. Do they feel sharper or more specific? Are they pointing out details you missed? Let us know. Real examples from real reefs are how this gets better.
Captain Chris moved forward too
Plus and Pro members now get Captain Chris on Gemini 3.7 across chat, tank summaries, dosing guidance, ICP interpretation, coral photo comparisons, and weekly tank reports.
The goal is not to make Captain Chris sound more complicated. It is to make the next step more useful: what changed, what the tank evidence supports, what to check, and what to watch afterward.
Captain Chris now writes one tank diagnosis per owner-local day when you open the dashboard. Your last successful diagnosis stays visible if a later refresh cannot run, so useful guidance is not replaced by a spinner or a temporary failure.
Dosing Intelligence now teaches the regimen
Dosing Intelligence now begins in plain English. It explains what you dose, what each supplement is expected to influence, the safest next steps, and what to watch over the coming week.
It also preserves an important truth: a configured schedule is not proof that a dose happened. ReefMind keeps configured amounts, delivered-dose history, manual logs, and source identity distinct instead of blending them into a number that looks more certain than it is.
For the selected tank, ReefMind can bring Apex DOS, Jebao, HYDROS, Aquarino, ReefDose, Sentia Dose, and configured manual heads into one read-only picture without borrowing a head from another aquarium or commanding a physical dose.
Livestock is live for everyone
Every tank can now have its own organized record of fish, corals, invertebrates, and other animals. Photos are optional, tank-specific, and easier to add from your library or camera.
When you add a coral with a photo, that first image now starts its Coral Analyzer timeline automatically. The next photo has a real dated baseline for comparing visible changes in color, condition, and growth — without uploading the first image twice.
Your ReefMind dashboard can finally look like your reef
The redesigned Settings experience gives tanks, controllers, dosing equipment, notifications, and the Captain Chris Tank Profile clearer homes.
Dashboard Edit mode lets you rearrange widgets and choose the layout that fits how you think. Put chemistry first. Lead with CameraAI. Keep maintenance front and center. Your existing tanks, controller connections, and preferences stay intact; this is a better way to reach and arrange them, not a reset.
Tip of the week: one tank, multiple controllers
Did you know that one ReefMind tank can use multiple controllers — such as Apex, HYDROS, Aquarino, and others — at the same time?
ReefMind keeps every source identified while bringing the readings together around the aquarium they actually describe. It works the other way too: different tanks can use the same controller when that matches the real setup.
Reef systems can be wonderfully complex, with different combinations of controllers, dosers, testers, cameras, feeders, and Collectors. ReefMind is designed to support that complexity instead of forcing the hardware into a one-controller, one-tank box.

More hardware now speaks ReefMind
This week, aquavitro Sentia Dose joined the read-only Dosing Map. GHL dosing names and channels became more authoritative. HYDROS controller assignment became explicitly tank-specific, and Apex AFS feeder data now stays in the tank story.
Collectors also got easier to expand. Additional Collectors can be ordered without changing the current ReefMind subscription, and we continued hardening Docker setup, camera inventory, and Collector recovery paths.

We do not own every controller, doser, tester, feeder, camera, or one-of-a-kind reef setup. We cannot reproduce every real-world failure on a shelf.
The only reason ReefMind can move at this pace is because reefers connect equipment, test early versions, report strange edge cases, challenge our assumptions, and tell us when something does — or does not — match a real tank.
